GUIDELINES AND POLICIES

This competition will be following the USFS Compete USA and Prince William Ice Center rules and guidelines that are current on the date of the competition. Communication regarding these guidelines will be promptly sent to all participating team managers and coaches. It is the responsibility of the team managers and coaches to make these known and understood by their teams before coming to compete.

ELIGIBILITY RULES FOR PARTICIPANTS

All skaters on the team must either be full U.S. Figure Skating members or members of the Learn to Skate USA program. All Learn to Skate USA Synchronized Skating teams must be registered with U.S. Figure Skating and have a team number.

ELIGIBILITY AND TEST REQUIREMENTS

For a team to be eligible for Aspire 1 through 4 levels, no skaters on the team may have passed higher than a pre bronze test in skating skills or dance).

Test level is as of the competition entry deadline. No skater may compete on multiple Learn to Skate USA synchronized skating teams.

The ages for Learn to Skate USA synchronized skating teams are as of the preceding July 1

Entry fees are $150 per team plus $10 per skater (including alternates). Late entries will be accepted only if the limit has not been reached, at the discretion of the PWIC (there will be $25 late fee charge). Walk in registrations will not be accepted. Entry fees are U.S. dollars. NO refunds after closing date unless event is canceled by Prince William Ice Center. The online processing fees are not refundable.

ENTRY MUST BE COMPLETED ON-LINE by 11:59 pm December 20, 2024. No paper entries will be accepted.

SPECTATOR FEES: Spectators aged 5 and up fee will be $5 cash at the door.


AWARDS – Medals will be awarded to all members of the top four placing teams in each event. ALL awards will be given at appropriate times throughout the competition. We plan to do the award ceremonies on the ice at this time.

MUSIC - All music must be submitted electronically through the online registration system in Entryeeze no later than December 31, 2024 at 11:59 PM. On-line music submission is the only acceptable method to submit program music. After you have paid for your events, the system will prompt you to upload your music for each event. If your music is not available at that time, you can log out of your account and return later to upload your music. The uploaded music MUST conform to the following specifications:

  • Programs per file: One (1) piece of competition music per file is allowed. File format: mp3 - The uploaded file music must be an mp3 file (MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 Audio Layer III). Simply changing the file extension to “mp3” from another file format is not acceptable. Bit Rate: 192 kbps is requested (bit rates between 128 and 320 kbps will be accepted). Maximum file size: 10 MB. ID3 Metadata [tags]: None – The LOC strongly requests that mp3 files DO NOT contain any ID3 metadata, commonly called tags. This is especially true of any embedded images such as album cover art, picture of the team, etc. Please, NO EMBEDDED IMAGES! Maximum leader: The LOC requests that there be NO leader. The leader is the silence between the start of the track and the actual start of the program music. Maximum trailer: The LOC requests that there be NO trailer. The trailer is the silence between the end of the program music and the end of the actual track.

**Backup music at event: In addition to submitting the music online, all teams must also have at least one [1] backup copy of their competition music on mobile device (phone), AT RINKSIDE, during the actual competition event segment or practice.


SCHEDULE OF EVENTS – This is a one day only event! Saturday, January 18, 2025. Practice and competition event time is from 8:00am – 4:00pm and all events will be placed within this timeframe. Reserve the entire day – competition chair generates a competition schedule based on flow and continuity and will not accommodate requests for tailored skating times. Schedule of events will be e-mailed to coaches and posted on www.innovativesportsva.com no later than January 8, 2025. Skating order will also be posted on the day of the competition.

Check in – Check in will begin Saturday, January 18, 2025 one hour prior to the start of practice ice. One team representative should register on behalf of the team, as soon as the team arrives at the competition.

ELIGIBILITY RULES FOR COACHES/INSTRUCTORS - To be credentialed at a Compete USA event, individuals coaching are required to have:

  • Learn to Skate USA Instructor membership OR U.S. Figure Skating full membership
  • SafeSport training completed (for coaches/instructors 18 years old and older)
  • Background check successfully passed (for coaches/instructors 18 years old and over)
  • Learn to Skate USA Instructor Certification completed OR U.S. Figure Skating compliant coach (for coaches under 18 years old)

*SafeSport training is available through www.usfsaonline.org for full members of U.S. Figure Skating and through Learn to Skate USA portal for instructors. There is no cost to this training.

If a coach/instructor attempts to work at your event without the proper credentials, he or she is in violation of U.S. Figure Skating ethics and code of conduct rules and, as such, is subject to disciplinary action.

PRACTICE ICE - Practice ice will be available on Saturday, January 18, 2025: at 8:00am – approx.10:00am, sold in 10- minute intervals - $100.

PHOTOGRAPHS – A professional photographer will be on hand to photograph teams during the event. Personal videotaping and photography with NO FLASH will NOT be allowed.

LIABILITY - U.S. Figure Skating and the clubs or organizers of competitions undertake no responsibility for damages or injuries suffered by the skaters or officials. As a condition of and in consideration of the acceptance of their entries or participation therein, all entrants, their parents and guardians and officials shall be deemed to agree to assume all risks of injury to their person and property resulting from, caused by or connected with, the conduct and management of the competition, and to waive and release any and all claims which they may have against any officials, U.S. Figure Skating, the club hosting the competition and its officers; and their entries shall be accepted only on such condition.

LOCKER ROOMS AND CHANGING AREAS - This event will be following the Locker Rooms and Changing Area policy included in the SafeSport Handbook.
